FIGHTING EVENTS
The fighting for this event will be themed for the holiday. The heavy fighting tournament will take inspiration from the tale of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. In honor of this tale, bouts will be fought with axes. Two large, two-handed axes will be provided and made available for the fighters. You are welcome to bring your own axe if you prefer. The provided axes will require full gauntlets (not demis) to use as they do not have cup hilt guards. The winner of the tournament will receive one of the axes as a prize.
The rapier event will be inspired by the tale of the Headless Horseman. A pumpkin-head buckler will be provided for the “headless horseman” fighter. The headless horseman is immune to strikes to the head, but must hit their challenger in the head in order to win. The buckler will be given as a prize to the winner.
Exact tournament rules (elimination and ranking) are still being determined and will be posted once they are finalized.
BARDIC
There will be time set aside after the fighting for bardic, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to sing a song or tell a story, preferably themed for the season or the holiday.
ARTS AND SCIENCES
We will unfortunately not be having a formal arts and sciences competition at this event.
FOOD
Due to covid restrictions, there will not be a feast at this event. As we did for the recent coronet, please keep your food to your own table and share only within your household. There is hot water and coffee on site.
FEES AND REGISTRATION
The fee for this event is $15 for non-members, and $10 for members. There will NOT be pre-registration for Samhain.
COVID SAFETY
Masks are required at all times inside First Congregational Church, except when immediately eating or drinking. Food should NOT be shared between households. There is no requirement to be vaccinated, although we highly encourage it. If you feel sick or have ANY symptoms such as fever, cough, headache, or unusual exhaustion, please stay home.
